I feel that after almost a full year of this site being active it should probably have more than 2 blog posts. In light of this, here’s a quick little update for September on the website’s development and what you’ll be seeing on PSYSkip in the near future.
A few new dev thingies that have happened include a lot of graphic overhauling and optimization. Pretty much every core graphic has now been SVG-ified, making the place seem much more tidy! I haven’t decided if I actually like it looking sooooo tidy, but getting grunge textures to tile well and load correctly is a battle for another day.
Included in this batch of graphic reworks was the front page ‘Showreel’ element – the animation for which was an absolute bastard to get working smoothly – which now sports some hacky new listeners that activates the youtube iframe in a more elegant way. Google certainly doesn’t make it easy however, and even after finally finding what I considered a pretty damn good solution it was somehow broken a few weeks later. If anyone has a sure-fire way of detecting the difference between a youtube iframe being paused versus the timeline being scrubbed, hit me up.
Aaaaaaand that’s pretty much it for web dev talk! Aside from a few small fixes here and there I’m shelving my sizable (and still growing) web dev to-do list so that I can start getting some stuff on this feed. Not entirely sure what kind of… stuff that will be, but I’m aiming for some life drawing study, a few small animation tests and maybe even some animation analysis and write ups for practice.
Till then I leave you with this fellow~
